Dear Keri,
I received your comment on my previous post. While I appreciate you reading my blog, I'm not quite sure why you do, as we obviously don't agree on things. I knew, when I clicked on your profile, that I had seen your profile before. When? Oh, right. The last time you left me a snarky comment. I didn't comment on what you had to say then, but for some reason I feel the need to now. Mostly, I think, because I sort of feel sorry for you.
The following is your most recent comment, in it's entirety:
The dress?? We are at WAR(a war my husband has deployed to THREE times), our economy is in the crapper, our nation is DIVIDED and you care about a friggin dress??
***shakes head in shame***
Never during this election, which I followed very closely, did I choose to comment about it on my blog, other than posting a McCain/Palin graphic. I didn't feel it was necessary. I don't think people read my blog because they care about my political affiliations. I've never tried to hide the fact that I'm a very proud Republican, nor have I ever felt the need to announce it. Until now.
Oh, no kidding, we've got some issues in this country? Thanks for enlightening me. Are you serious? I appreciate the fact that you've been a military wife and the sacrifices that your family has made for our country. I respect the fact that your husband was deployed to Iraq three times and fought to keep our country free. A country, might I add, in which we are very fortunate to live. Please don't think I don't understand that. I am a very, very proud American. Do you think that Barack Obama is going to end the war and get every single member of the military who is currently serving in this war back to the United States? I don't.
You also point out our economy is "in the crapper". The crapper? And Obama's suggestion that we increase taxes on wealthy individuals and families to reroute that money to poor people is going to help that? Whatever happened to working hard for your money and, oh I don't know, getting to freaking keep it? Why on earth would you want to tax wealthy people more? They already pay more than half of the taxes in this country. And do you know what else they do? Create jobs. You have to have capital in this free country we live in to open small businesses and invest in large corporations. What will they do when their tax burdens increase? What any smart business owner would do - find a way to lower their operating expenses. What does that mean? Layoffs, job losses, and moving companies and corporations to locations (ie: Mexico) where the cost of doing business is decreased. Boy, that's going to pull us right out of "the crapper".
Do you find it interesting at all that in the two days since Obama has been elected the Dow has plunged more than 440 points and that major indexes have lost nearly 10 percent? This has been the Dow's worst two-day percentage decline since October of 1987. I think that's significant. I also think it's significant that CEOs of major American business surveyed before the election thought that Obama would bankrupt this country's economy in three years.
And, if you've read this blog for any length of time, I'm sure you know my husband works for a major auto manufacturer. Right, because that's such a booming industry right now. I'm sure you also have read that I've recently gone back to work. Why? Because my husband and I had the foresight, when his company offered for the second time in two years to PAY people to quit their jobs, to realize that his income would be decreasing. Do I love my new job? Yes. Would I have gone back to work if I felt like it was a realistic option for me to continue to stay home? No. So please don't feel the need to point out so eloquently to me that our economy is "in the crapper". We're experiencing that first hand in our house, as I'm sure many families are.
So yes, I did care about Michelle Obama's dress. It was ugly. On what has probably been to this point the biggest night of her family's lives she wore a damn ugly dress. Why does that make you shake your head in shame? Because I didn't feel the need to spout my political affiliations and beliefs on MY blog? Why do you even care? I did my part as an American, and I voted for who I thought would be the best person to do the job. My "best person" didn't win. I can accept that. I can also accept that the world as I know it is not going to end because Obama won. I'm not happy about it, but it's not the end of the world. I will still keep my sense of humor, and keep informed. I hope you can do that too.

Go Kim, go Kim, go Kim!!!!
Well said Kim...well said!!
BTW, The dress was AWFUL!!!!
I don't even know where to start. Do I think raising taxes on the wealthy will fix EVERYTHING?? No. But I do think it's a start. And by wealthy he means those making over 250K a year. And your statement that the wealthy already pay the majority in taxes is laughable. They have the majority of the tax breaks.
May I remind you that the wealthy would not be where they are without all the poor little piss on's that spend THEIR hard earned money(however small amount it may be) to pad the "wealthy" one's pockets. This country was not founded on by the "wealthy" so forgive me if I'm not willing to pay a boatload of taxes on our piddly little income and still be expected to "stimulate the economy" ie: help the fat cats get fatter.
I'm so glad you are a proud republican. I am a proud democrat. I am pro choice, pro gay marriage, no wait, pro EQUAL rights for all DEMOCRAT.
So, yes, I think your dress comment is catty and in the grand scheme of thins, ridiculous. Do you only want readers that agree with you? How boring(but you are a republican.....).
FYI, I found your website while doing a rutherford county search(Praise allah, I am practically your neighbor ;) )
I am so done with this cyber pissing match in which you seem to want me to engage. I don't just want people who agree with me to read my blog. I don't care if ANYONE reads it, whether they agree with me or not. I post about wiping bums and what we're eating for dinner. It's not a political commentary blog, nor will it ever be. You will not change my mind on the topics, and I will not try to change your mind. And isn't that beautiful? Here in America we can both live happily knowing that not everyone shares our views and that's acceptable. I'm assuming your "Praise Allah I'm practically your neighbor" comment was you being facetious? Well, lucky you. My family and I are good neighbors. I hope you are too.
Keri, I find it hard to believe that you can make a comment like "Praise Allah" while your husband has been deployed three time to fight the very people who believe in him. Boggles my mind. Sorry Kim, didn't mean to add fuel to the fire, stupidity just doesn't sit well with me.
Nicole,
My husband didn't deploy to protect us from Muslims. I don't even know where to go with that one.
If you can't handle stupidity it must be pretty hard to look in the mirror after comments like yours.
Wow Kim, you're so popular you have your own troll.
As a side note, I thought the same thing about "the dress".
Kim you are a so right and I totally agree and still in shock that Obama even won.. one would only hope that fool Keri lives close enough to you that you can rub some sense off on her. You will see her in the crowd I am sure she dresses as bad as the Obama Mamma does. We all can only pray this 4 years is short and sweet and nothing bad happens to our country.
OK, I'm just catching up on this whole back and forth thing.
Kim, good for you. While I have voted Republican in every election to date, this year I voted Democrat. Why? Because I think we need a young president with a new way of thinking. You have valid points on the tax issue but really? Who knows what the hell will happen once Obama gets into office? What President has ever done what they proposed to do? Clinton promised not to raise taxes and 56 days into office what did he do? Raise taxes. Regardless of which party you are affiliated, all we can do it wait and see. The President can't just make changes by himself. They proposals need to go through may channels before it gets anywhere. So even though Obama has these "proposals", who knows if they will ever even come to fruition.
Now for you, Keri. Maybe you think having voted Democratic this election I would be on your side? WRONG. What the hell are you doing? Your ignorance, cynicism, and bitterness makes me pity you. How dare you start this pissing match on a blog that isn't even a political blog? Yes, I have seen Kim's McCain/Palin graphic on her blog. Did I have a different view? Yup. Did I start a fight with her because we have different opinions? Of course not. Grow up.I read her comment about Michelle's dress and it was funny....even though I'm a fan of hers. SO WHAT?? Get over yourself. We sure have. There is so much more I could say. But frankly you're not worth the effort. And if you knew Kim, you'd also be aware that there is no way you'd win the pissing match. Don't bother. Bring your ridiculousness to someone who cares.
Keri,
Not all Muslim's are terrorists, but so far all terrorists have been Muslim!

For the love of allah (I mean God, you know,"One country under...")you are as pitiful as you sound if you think that remark had anything to do with politics. And a big Amen to Susan...there's no way you could win a pissing match with Kim.
I am as left as they come, but I still respect people and their opinions. Kim, I love you and your passion!
"Not all Muslim's are terrorists, but so far all terrorists have been Muslim!"
Correction: we have had a Christian terrorist in office for over 8 years. A statement like yours only goes to display a complete lack of knowledge in basic history.
Oh and about Clinton raising taxes 56 days after taking office: when Clinton left office did we have a giant SURPLUS or a gigantic debt?? Oh yeah, that's right, we had a SURPLUS. I guess there is something to be said for paying taxes. The only difference is the republicans want all the working poor to pay them while they continue to get richer and richer. I have no problems with Obama raising my taxes(and we are FAR from rich). I hope he does. I want to take care of this deficit sooner rather than later so that my grandchildren and great grand children is not paying for President Bush's bad decisions.
To me it's no different than property taxes: if you buy a big, huge house in an expensive neighborhood your property taxes will be more than the person who buys a starter home in an up and coming neighborhood. Income tax should be no different. You make more, you pay more.
I did not come to your website to be a troll. I found it after relocating to Tennessee and googling some things to do in Rutherford county. I enjoy many of your recipes and do find you quite humorous. You are a talented writer.
I have only written responses on things that I have felt strongly about which would why it would appear I was "trolling". I am not.
Ok. I'm done now. Lets just hope in four years our economy has taken a turn for the better. I think both "sides" can agree that we would like that, no?
Keri,
I understand that you think you are done, but you can't personally attack me and not have me respond. A lack of knowledge in basic history...really? I don't have the time or energy to address that issue, but maybe I should scan my degree and send it to you.
I will address the issues and not you personally..Taxes, yes they are a good thing and do great things for our country, national security, FDA, social security etc. and I don't have a problem paying them. What I have a problem with is that my family pays 50% on any bonus which most of my husbands income is payed out in, 33% in fed income tax, 5% state income tax, $10,000 a year in property taxes, 7.58% in social security (that we will never see)as well as various other "taxes" on our phone, cable and other unknown taxes.
My husband grew up poor and put himself through college, grad school and is currently getting even further education. We should pay more b/c he decided to work his butt off and support those people who don't? ie."Crimaliens" We should pay more b/c we waited to have children till WE could support them and pay for their needs not expecting someone else to pick up the tab. So let me get this correct...I should pay more? Me who goes to Walmart to get the best deal on cereal b/c I choose to stay home with my kids and make sacrifices in order to do that.
I think Bush did many wrong things with this country, but not all republicans are George Bush. Thankfully, not all democrats are Bill Clinton either!
In my eyes, a successful Barack Obama administration equals socialism, our government being soft on terrorism, the UN running the defense of our country. A successful Obama administration equals higher taxes, racial preferences, liberal judges, and the end of the American way of life.
Stephanie,
I guess all I can say to your post is if republicans are the answer then how come you are complaining about the way things are RIGHT NOW. You have Bush to thank for that. Obama hasn't even taken office but you took it upon yourself to write the future.
I'm not interested in your various degrees as that means nothing to me. You can have all the book knowledge in the world and still lack basic common sense.
I have no idea what the future holds. I know it's time for a change. The republicans have had the last 8 years to prove to the American public that they have our best interests at heart and they have failed. Miserably.
So until Obama proves me wrong I am going to err on the side of optimism. After the last 8 years of gloom and doom I think a little optimism is long overdue.
Well, I have to say Keri, we've finally agreed on something. . . I do also hope the economy is in a better place in 4 years. Whether that's because of Barack Obama or in spite of him, I do hope it's much improved!
(And I'm glad you like my recipes!)
